Sheila Read - Sheila Reid Jewellery
Sheila Read is one of Nottingham's best kept secrets.....
She creates simple and elegant jewellery, inspired by industrial museums. She manages to catch a small snap shop of tiny parts then develope them into crisp clean lines using precious metals. These lines are often softened with the addition of wood from a sustainable source.
The majority of pieces are hallmarked with SR and the Birmingham assay mark.
This is elegant and unique jewellery is lovingly and skilfully designed and made by hand and (for the moment) we are proud to say that Created By Hand are only retailer in the UK showcasing Sheila's work.
So if you are unfamiliar with Sheilas work then visit the shop up at Strelley Hall, Nottingham to see for yourself.
Jane Clarke - Janeys Jewellery
Jane Clarke has always had a creative side which is reflected in her resume of job experiences.
From leaving school she learned the art of floristry and since those early years has moved into window dressing and fashion / beauty consultancy.
The common link through the years has been the love of working with colour and form, be that with flowers, fashion or jewellery which she has been making since her early 20’s.
Over the last three years, with the backing of two beautiful girls and a loving and very supportive husband Jane has managed to carve a reputation as a maker of both unusual and stunning jewellery using combinations of freshwater pearls, semi-precious stones from around the world as well as lots of other medias.
And when we say make, we really do mean make!
Jane hand wraps links and clasps used in her jewellery which gives her complete control over the quality of her designs and removes the restriction of ‘off the shelf’ findings.
Many of Jane’s designs are one of a kind so if you see something you like, seize the day! As we cannot guarantee you will see the same piece on your next visit.
Jane has also done a lot of commissioned jewellery to compliment a special outfit, incorporate birthstones and wedding jewellery for brides and bridesmaids, matching stones to colour schemes and all at competitive prices.
