Deb Hather is an established teddy bear restorer with over 30 years experience. Her business evolved from a love of antiques, natural fabrics and hand sewing and we are extremely lucky that she is not only based at Strelley Hall but will be passing on some of her extensive experience during this workshop.
Step into a world of timeless tradition this Christmas with our Heirloom Mohair Teddy Bear Making Workshop. With expert guidance from Deb, you will create your very own teddy bear using the finest German mohair – the fabric cherished by collectors for its rich texture and lasting quality.
Each bear will be carefully stitched and jointed, just as the classic bears of yesteryear were made, ensuring your creation becomes a true heirloom to treasure for generations.
This workshop is more than simply sewing – it’s a journey back to a slower, more thoughtful time. You’ll learn traditional bear-making techniques, from setting glass eyes to stuffing with natural materials, and leave with not just a bear, but the skills and confidence to continue the craft at home. Whether you’re a complete beginner or have some sewing experience, the process is gentle, supportive, and full of festive cheer.
Held in the beautiful setting of Strelley Hall, with seasonal refreshments and a sprinkling of festive music, it’s the perfect way to slow down and savour the season. By the end of the day, you’ll have a beautiful mohair teddy bear, stitched by your own hands, ready to take home as a precious keepsake or a heartfelt gift.
Make this Christmas truly memorable – join us to create something magical, lasting, and full of love.
