Temima Craft

A Box is a box is a box! Right?... Wrong!  That is if it’s a ‘Bloomin’ Clever Box’

Ray and Kathy Sylvester established Temima Crafts in 1995 after taking early retirement from teaching. and over the years they have designed, made and sold a range of products, many combining wood and textiles.

Since 2003 Temima Crafts has become associated with increasingly intricate multi level band saw cut wooden boxes. As intriguing on the inside as they are beautiful on the outside, Ray chooses the wood for these unique wooden boxes with great care and travels the country to find interesting pieces.

They are all made from a single piece of wood and are hand finished, sealed,

flocked, oiled and waxed. Each box is designed to the shape of the piece of wood that Ray begins with and is unique with handles, lids and drawers.

They can be used for small objects such as jewellery, keepsakes etc. or as a source of interest and fun.

Pop in and ask a member of staff to explain why these boxes are so ‘Bloomin Clever’

LetterJoy

LetterJoy was founded in 2013 by Sarah Beeny. Having completed an MA in Ceramic Design for Production at Staffordshire University, Sarah then spent over ten happy years in the design industry, creating products for living. She had the pleasure of working for M&S, Next, House of Fraser, Dunelm Mill. Portmeirion and Royal Doulton. After gained experience she had the confidence to start her own business, we know today as LetterJoy.

Following being given the all clear after breast cancer treatment in 2020, Sarah was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer with extensive liver involvement. She did her best to fight through, but very sadly died in April 2022.

This difficult time led her sister Rachel Beeny Walker to consider how to move forward the business Sarah so lovingly developed. Rachel decided to keep LetterJoy alive, and we are extremely proud to continue in the memory and legacy of Sarahs's hard work.

Timberkits

Timberkits is a family firm which has been running since 1993, based in the heart of beautiful Mid Wales.

They design, prototype and manufacture new models every year and serve customers all over the world and their products are really unusual and tremendous fun.

They have a passion for wood and their design challenge has always been how to use a natural, organic material in an engineering context, whilst also giving it life and animation.

Building a Timberkit is very absorbing and satisfying. They are unique products that will charm you, fascinate you and draw you into the rich world of automata.

Men In Sheds

We are proud to be supporters of Men in Sheds.

A ground-breaking project from Age UK, Men in Sheds supports older men in search of a hobby as well as those who want to get together, share and learn new skills all in the welcoming setting of a workshop. It also supports older men who are isolated or disengaged from their community or are experiencing major changes in life.

Age UK Nottingham provide three sheds (a workshop) in Blidworth, Daybrook and Worksop. They are fully set up with tools, equipment and a team of volunteers for support - but the members take part in the day-to-day running of the shed and decide on activities they want to follow including woodworking, skills sharing and socialising. Essentially, through taking control and ownership of the shed, the shed members are empowered.

If you would like to find out more about this wonderful project then follow the link below.
