----- Dates -----

Sun 14th July                         =       2 Spaces

Sun 6th October                   =       4 Spaces

In this one day course, you will learn how to weave using recycled materials, such as plastic packaging, baler twine, electric cables, old clothes - things which are about to be thrown away, but can be turned into something lovely. Your attitude towards ‘rubbish’ will definitely shift!

You can make a small bag, a table mat or an attractive wall hanging. The emphasis is on experimenting and having fun using unconventional materials.

Suitable for complete beginners and experienced weavers.

We start the morning seeing examples of items, mostly bags and wall hangings, woven by the tutor, using unconventional materials, such as baler twine, plastics and even cling film.

Then you will be taught how to put the warp on a simple frame loom, and how to use a stick shuttle and pick-up stick, to begin weaving. You can choose what to make, but frequently people choose to make a wall-hanging.

After a break for lunch we will carry on weaving using all sorts of colourful and random materials, experimenting and having fun.

Towards the end of the session, you will be given options about how to finish your ‘piece of art’ ready to take it home.
