Our workshops have been developed to provide a quiet day of creativity and gentle tuition and we hope the feeling of going home with a desire to learn more.
This one-day course aims to equip you with the skills, tools, and linoleum to create a range of hand crafted artwork.
During this workshop we will be using flexi linoleum for ease of cutting and carving. We will print your images using hand burnishing techniques and by using a table top press.
Don’t worry if you have never taken part in a printmaking session before you will love it, have fun, and find your feet quickly. You will be supported and guided through each stage of the creative process to build your understanding and confidence.

We will start the workshop with a description of the basic tools used to cut a design in linoleum. This will be followed by a short demonstration on how cut your linoleum plate safely.
You will then be given the opportunity to practice your cutting and mark-making skills. Once you feel comfortable about cutting the linoleum we will explore how to develop your image and transfer it onto the linoleum and print your first image.
I mages will be provide that you can work from or you can bring your own research.
After a break for lunch we will carry on and learn a little more the lino cut process by the Chine-collé and printing on coloured grounds. Tools, paper, ink and glove for each student will be supplied and are included in the course price.
Because of the time associated with printmaking the coloured grounds will be provided complete for you to use during the day.
The course focus is always on fun and friendly creativity with lots of personal tuition from an experienced artist an ex student of St Martins School of Art.
FOOD: Hot and cold refreshments will be provided throughout the day but we would suggest you to bring your own lunch to the workshop. Alternatively the shop is situated next to the wonderful Mulberry Tree Cafe where you can purchase delicious food at reasonable prices.
The course costs £55.00 to include materials, use of tools and refreshments throughout the day.
