Laura Donaldson is a practising artist living in Melbourne, Derbyshire. After growing up just outside Uttoxeter, where the local landscape of Staffordshire cemented her love of the landscape, she moved to study fine art at Edinburgh, graduating in 1998.
Her studies in landscapes, weather and seasonal change are reflected with a strong emphasis on colour. She works with many medium but this class will concentrate on creating stunning compositions using a range of mixed media.
In this one day workshop, Laura will show you how to combine collage, acrylics and sketch to create a meaningful piece of art.
You’ll be using mixed media to have a really enjoyable day looking at how different colour combinations can have a lasting impact on your work. Looking at different surface textures and backgrounds first, you will then layer colour with inks and acrylics before working simple images over the top to create multi layered work with endless possibilities.
Feel free to bring your own images for inspiration. Don't have any to use? Don't worry, Laura has plenty of exciting materials of her own that you can use.
At the end of the session you will go home with a piece of artwork that is truly unique and personal, and has the potential to be a very special gift.
The course focus is always on fun and friendly creativity with lots of personal tuition from an experienced mixed media artist.
FOOD: Hot and cold refreshments will be provided throughout the day but we would suggest you to bring your own lunch to the workshop. Alternatively the shop is situated next to the wonderful Mulberry Tree Cafe where you can purchase delicious food at reasonable prices.
