Jane Clarke has been designing and making jewellery for many years and has a wealth of knowledge that she wants to share on how to be confident in the art of jewellery making.
Polymer clay (common make - Fimo) is a wonderful 'plastic' type clay which comes in bright vibrant colours, is easy to handle and is baked hard in an oven. It is easy to use at home and you can produce high quality individual pieces with planning and thought.
Before creating there is the conditioning of the clay to make it soft and subtle enough to form and Jane will demonstrate several conditioning techniques before letting you have a go yourselves.
Then comes the layering and forming into canes which are cut off in slices before creating the final forms of clay which will then be baked and finally tuned into jewellery.
This is a fun, short course aimed at complete beginners but once you have been on this workshop we feel sure you will appreciate the bright and colourful variety of clays available and the stunning results which can be achieved from this most versatile of craft mediums.
We then hope you will be inspired to attend some more advanced courses later in the year.
The course focus is always on fun and friendly creativity with lots of personal tuition from an experienced jewellery maker.
Liquid refreshments are provided throughout the day but there are nearby shops and cafes where reasonably priced and delicious food can be purchased should you choose.
The course will cost £30.00 which includes all materials, use of tools and teas / coffees throughout the day.
You may want to bring an apron and pen & paper to take notes. Other than that you just need to turn up with the desire to learn and have fun.
Class sizes will be limited to 8 so early booking is essential.
